A suicide bomb attack in Nigeria’s Borno state northeast of the country killed three and wounded two others on Wednesday.
The suicide bombers had attempted to enter a mosque in the Kaleri district of Maïduguri when they were confronted by militiamen engaged in the fight against Boko Haram.
According to the spokesman of Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency Abdulkadir Ibrahim, they triggered their explosives killing one of the militiamen and wounding two others.
This incident comes just after another attempted attack in Usmanti, another part of the capital of the Borno state.
On the night of Tuesday and Wednesday, a suicide bomber who was targeting a checkpoint was shot dead before blowing himself up, according to the spokesman.
Mosques, checkpoints and frequented public places are regularly targeted by Boko Haram suicide bombers.
At least 20,000 people have been killed since the insurgency by the Islamist sect started in 2009.
